Chiron is a “planetoid” that exists at the Kuiper Belt which was discovered in 1977, and in astrology Chiron, represents the body/mind connection, the healing process, and identifies an unbearable wound which motivates us to seek a higher purpose for our life. For that reason it is also associated with wisdom that comes with experience but with knowledge too.
Chiron journeys between Saturn and Uranus, and was described by Barbara Hand Clow as the “Rainbow Bridge.” Personal planets are the planets that were known by ancients, beginning with the Sun and Moon through Saturn. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are known as outers, or “higher octave” planets. Their significance is multidimensional and their inspiration takes place on different levels of consciousness. For those are on a path of transformation and evolution, the outer planets provide “avenues” of opening up to new degrees of awareness and understanding.
Chiron’s role in this process is to pry open the doors of perception to a world beyond the physical body. Its human nature to seek but stay in the comfort zone, and Chiron creates discomfort, to open our eyes to the fact, that life in a body is limited. For some, this experience is more painful than others; for some it is merely discomfort of a pebble in the shoe. But it is often in the pain of discovery that the seeds of change are planted and transformation begins.
For the past several years (since 2002) Chiron has been traveling through Capricorn, the sign which rules hard work and social structures – government, schools, corporations, marriage, and capitalism. During this period the curtain has been drawn on the ways in which these structures (Capricorn) have wounded our society (Chiron). The Enron and WorldCom debacles not only destroyed two companies, but also created a deep wound in the communities that served them. The so-called War of Terror created virtual concentration camps for “enemy combatants” that torment took place.
Aquarius is a sign of the air element: communicative, rational, and idealistic. It tends to be revolutionary in its desire for freedom and change to the status quo. Chiron lately passed through Aquarius between 1955 and 1960.
Elvis, James Dean, those rebellious individuals in popular culture revealed the growing dissatisfaction with modern society. Rosa Parks, refused to give up her bus-seat that year, and how interesting that her death as Chiron re-enters Aquarius reminds us the fight for freedom that so many African-Americans have suffered for.
The introduction of the birth-control pill heralded the dawn of the period of sexual freedom. During the current Chiron-Aquarius period we are likely to see a new call for freedom from immigrants all over the world that are beginning to seek a new power in the countries that they now call home.

Aquarius rules the nervous system, and I am concerned that our already overloaded psyches will begin to break down, and we will need particularly to watch closely our young people who are mostly vulnerable to psychic distress. Those who were born during the Uranus/Neptune conjunction in the early 1990s are especially tuned to these energies. Now teenagers, are caught in the transition between childhood and adulthood as well as in the Chironic process of opening to other dimensions of awareness. Those born with Uranus /Chiron opposition in their charts, an event that occurred between 1952 and 1988, also have an increased sensitivity to Chiron in Aquarius and may experience mental problems as a result of the psychic overload.
Aquarius rules technology as well, and technology will serve as a substitute for people who are unable or are unwilling to cross the consciousness rift. Technology offers an incredible opportunity to connect with others around the world, but can also be addictive as a drug. As Chiron enters Aquarius, “internet (Aquarius) addiction (Chiron)” has just been named, as the newest psychiatric disorder. Chiron’s transit through Aquarius will affect most personally those are born with their personal planets in fixed signs: Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio and Taurus.

“In a natal chart, Chiron reflects to the archetypal energies of the shamanic wounded healer and teacher who potentially lives within each one of us. It reflects an accidental wounding we received most often in early childhood. This Chironian wound is an injury to our instinctual nature and is a wounding of trust.

“The wounding was generally brought about as the result of a stupid, careless, thoughtless accident… so there is normally no one who can be blamed with purposely, intentionally, maliciously wounding us. The wounding was generally done by someone close to us, someone we thought well of and trusted.

“Further, a Chironian wound is an injury that [might not ever] totally heal. We learn, suffer and grow from dealing with this sensitive area of wounded instinct and trust, but the wounding will never totally go away. This Chironian wounding can, later in life and after much personal struggle, become a special area where we can help others by sharing our healing and teaching powers with them.

Chiron enters Aquarius, 2.21.2005.

“Chiron enters Aquarius, on Monday, February 21st, joining Venus and Neptune there, and it is possible that some pattern of wounding may shift. “That shift, I think, is about taking a personal or collective sense of — or attachment to — hurt, transgression or abuse of authority, and transmuting its energy/function from “What was done to me; what he, she or they did” to “What I will do for myself; what I or we will do” in order to function in line with the role and purpose we know we are capable of fulfilling. Chiron is observed as the archetype of the wounded healer who, is familiar with personal suffering, seeks to bring support and empowerment to others.

What it is not mentioned at the top is that “Chiron moves into Aquarius until 2011, vitalizing the need to shift our rebellious spirits from being against the old order to creating the new.”
“When Chiron is in Aquarius, there is a crisis over being grounded, existing on Earth in a balanced way. Higher consciousness has no place without a body, and as we move into Aquarius, we are being taught about bridging [the consciousness and the body] by the ecological crisis that exists on our planet. “Chiron, represented by the centaur, embodies this issue with its horse/human body. We have to have animal/human; Earth/sky, body/soul, or we will perish.”
